POMONA – The former general manager of the Shilo Inn Hotel in Pomona appeared in court today on charges of embezzlement, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney James Daloisio of the Pomona Branch Office said Heinz Juergen Gehner, 67 (dob 11/05/41), is charged in case No. KA088359 with six counts of grand theft of personal property. The criminal complaint further alleges an excessive-taking enhancement.

Gehner was charged in a felony complaint for arrest warrant on Oct. 13. He appeared in court briefly today, but his arraignment was postponed until Nov. 9 in Department A of Pomona Superior Court. Judge Daniel Buckley set his bail at $350,000.

The defendant is accused using several different scams to embezzle more than $290,000 in money and hotel services, prosecutors said.

Gehner faces a maximum term of 10 years and four months in state prison, if convicted of all charges.
