SAN FERNANDO – A 43-year-old Northridge woman was charged today with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of her boyfriend, whose body was discovered last Tuesday, the District Attorney’s office announced.

Kimberly Carter, (dob11-10-62), is scheduled to be arraigned some time after 1:30 p.m. today in San Fernando Superior Court, Dept. S, said Deputy District Attorney Carolyn McNary. Carter is charged in case No. PA054745. In addition to one count of murder, she is charged with a special allegation of personal use of a handgun. She is being held on $5 million bail.

Carter is suspected of fatally shooting Harry Phillips Jr. on March 6. His body was discovered the next day at a home they had shared in the 11200 block of Garden Grove Avenue in Northridge. She was arrested by Palm Springs police on Thursday after she allegedly called a TV station.

The case will be assigned to Deputy District Attorney Angela Jordan to prosecute.
