POMONA – A 29-year-old Diamond Bar man was charged today with assault with a firearm and his 27-year-old brother was charged with two drug counts in connection with a shooting Tuesday in Diamond Bar, the District Attorney’s office announced.

John Steven Heesch, (dob 7-28-76), is charged with one count of assault with a firearm, with the special allegation of causing great bodily injury and personal use of a firearm in case No. KA072907, said Deputy District Attorney Abram Weisbrot. Heesch’s brother, James Howard Heesch Jr., (dob 9-23-78), is charged with one count of possession of marijuana for sale and one count of cultivating marijuana. He was released on $60,000 bail.

John Heesch, who is being held on $150,000 bail, is scheduled to be arraigned after 1:30 p.m. today in Pomona Superior Court, Dept. N.

John Heesch allegedly shot a 29-year-old real estate agent who said he was canvassing houses in the neighborhood. The victim was on the porch of James Heesch when he was allegedly shot by John, who lives in the same neighborhood. During an investigation, Sheriff’s deputies confiscated nearly four pounds in marijuana from the home of James Heesch.
