A woman has been charged with killing a 91-year-old Valley Village man in a hit-and-run crash last month, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Joyce Bernann McKinney (dob 8/6/50) faces one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon, an automobile, hit-and-run driving resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

The charges include an allegation that the defendant inflicted great bodily injury on the victim who was 70 years of age or older.

Arraignment is scheduled July 5 in Department 100 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch. Case LA090775 was filed for warrant on July 2.

McKinney is charged with running over Gennady Bolotsky as he walked his dog in a marked crosswalk near the corner of Magnolia Boulevard and Wilkinson Avenue on June 17, prosecutors said. Bolotsky died as a result of his injuries and the defendant allegedly did not stop and render aid, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of 11 years in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Nathan Bartos is the assigned prosecutor.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Valley Traffic Division.
