Two men were charged today for allegedly placing a device on an ATM to steal personal financial information, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

In case YA089808, Melik Torosyan, 31 (dob 5/1/82), and Khachatur Harutyunyan, 23 (dob 4/12/90), both face charges of conspiracy to commit grand theft, possession of identifying information of 10 or more victims, and acquisition of access cards of four or more victims in a 12-month period.

The complaint alleges that on March 15 Torosyan and Harutyunyan inserted a scanning device into an ATM at a Chase Bank in Manhattan Beach. They later retrieved the device that captured the financial information of no less than 13 victims, according to prosecutors.

Both defendants were in court today for arraignment but the hearing was continued to March 21 in Department 4 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Torrance Branch.

Bail was set in the amount of $60,000 for each defendant.

If convicted of all charges they face a maximum possible sentence of three years and eight months in state prison.

The case is being investigated by the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
