Tyler Barriss (dob 11/09/92) of Los Angeles appeared today in Los Angeles County Superior Court where he waived his right to extradition after prosecutors filed a fugitive from justice warrant (case BA464000), the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

Barriss will return to court in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center on Jan. 17 for a status hearing if he has not already been picked up by Kansas law enforcement authorities. The court set a deadline of Feb. 2 by which Barriss must be transferred to Kansas custody.

Barriss remains in Los Angeles County jail without bail.

Barriss pleaded no contest in a separate case on May 10, 2016, to one felony count each of false report of bomb to agency or business and malicious informing of false bomb in case GA097330. The defendant was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail.
