An Azusa man was sentenced today to 25 years to life in state prison for sexually assaulting a woman in her Glendale home, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Fernanda Barreto said Justin Amador Rios pleaded guilty on April 27 to one count of forcible sexual penetration and admitted allegations that the crime occurred during a burglary and he used a knife in the attack.

On June 3, 2015, the defendant broke into the 38-year-old victim’s home and assaulted her at knifepoint, the prosecutor said. When she managed to scream for help, her adult son woke up and stopped the attack, the prosecutor added.

Rios escaped but was later captured. The victim did not know the defendant.

Case GA096423 was investigated by the Glendale Police Department.
