A 34-year-old man was sentenced today to seven years in state prison for stabbing two people with a knife and a screwdriver last year on Hollywood Boulevard, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Daniel Samuel Jones pleaded no contest to two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and admitted an allegation of causing great bodily injury in a negotiated plea agreement, according to Deputy District Attorney Catherine Mariano. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Renee Korn immediately sentenced him.

On Nov. 22, 2017, Jones stabbed a woman in the arm with a screwdriver on the sidewalk near Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in an apparently random attack. He was accused of then entering a nearby hotel and assaulting two employees with a knife.

After leaving the hotel, Jones stabbed a man walking on the sidewalk in the back with a knife.

Case BA463192 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Division.
