A jury has found a 28-year-old man guilty of killing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend at her Winnetka apartment building in 2016, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Brian Gonzalez aka Brian Hammons was convicted yesterday of two counts of murder with special circumstance allegations of murder during the commission of a kidnapping and multiple murders.

Deputy District Attorney Manuel Almada said the jury also found true allegations that Gonzalez used and fired a handgun in the commission of the crimes in case LA082639.

The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced on June 4 in Department V of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch. Gonzalez faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On Jan. 17, 2016, the defendant confronted his ex-girlfriend, Emily Fox, 22, and Jerrad Scott, 24, in a hallway at her apartment building, prosecutors said. While Scott attempted to escape, Fox dialed 911. Gonzalez then caught up to Scott and brought him back at gunpoint to Fox’s location before fatally shooting both of them, according to evidence presented at the nine-day-long trial.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Valley Bureau Homicide.
