A 60-year-old man was sentenced today to 19 years to life in state prison for fatally stabbing his former girlfriend last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Ngounsay Keo was found guilty last month of one count each of second-degree murder and making criminal threats. Jurors also found true a knife allegation.

Deputy District Attorney Kelly Kelley of the Victim Impact Program prosecuted the case.

On April 13, 2016, police were called to a home in the 1200 block of Stanley Avenue in Long Beach where they found the defendant holding a knife.

Authorities searched the residence further and discovered the body of Karina Duch, 40, in a bedroom. The victim had been stabbed to death, the prosecutor said.

Case NA103998 was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
