A 60-year-old man was convicted yesterday of fatally stabbing his children’s mother last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

On Thursday afternoon, a jury found Ngounsay Keo of Long Beach guilty of two felony counts in case NA103998: second-degree murder and making criminal threats. Jurors also found true a knife allegation.

The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 11 in Department S23 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch. He faces up to 19 years to life in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Kelly Kelley of the Victim Impact Program, who prosecuted the case, said on April 13, 2016, police were called to a home in the 1200 block of Stanley Avenue in Long Beach.

When authorities arrived at the location, they found Keo armed with a knife, the prosecutor said.

After some time, police detained Keo. Inside the residence, authorities discovered the body of Karina Duch, 40, in a bedroom. The victim had been stabbed to death, according to the prosecutor.
