CORRECTION: Corrects ages of the defendant and the victim.

A 41-year-old man has been charged with attacking an elderly woman in Koreatown, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Richard Rene Colomo (dob 2/1/77) is expected to be arraigned tomorrow in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Case BA465780 was filed for warrant on Feb. 23.

Colomo is charged with one count of elder or dependent adult abuse, infliction of injury, with a sentencing enhancement of causing great bodily injury to a person age 70 years or older. The charge includes an allegation that the defendant personally inflicted great bodily injury.

On Feb. 10, Colomo was walking in Koreatown where he allegedly encountered 85-year-old victim Mi Reum Song, prosecutors said. He allegedly attacked her without provocation, striking her in the face until she fell to the ground and lost consciousness, prosecutors said.

Colomo allegedly fled the scene and the victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Prosecutors are requesting that bail be set at $80,000. Colomo faces a maximum sentence of nine years in state prison if convicted as charged.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Olympic Division.
