September 25, 2018: CORRECTION: Man Charged with Assaulting Covina Bar Patron in Bathroom

CORRECTION: Corrects the date of the incident.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with assaulting a man at a bathroom in a Covina bar, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Vidal Larios Jr. (dob 12/22/77) of Glendale faces one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, a glass mug.

Case KA119141 includes allegations of causing great bodily injury and that Larios Jr. was convicted of second-degree robbery in 2002.

The defendant pleaded not guilty yesterday and is scheduled to return on Oct. 10 in Department 4 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, West Covina Branch.

On Sept. 17, Larios Jr. was at a bar on the 900 block of Azusa Avenue when he allegedly armed himself with a glass mug and followed a man into the bathroom and attacked him, prosecutors said.

Bail is scheduled at $110,000. Larios Jr. faces a possible maximum sentence of 19 years in state prison if convicted as charged.

The case remains under investigation by the Covina Police Department.
